December, 2005 – Tasman Studios Limited

Jeans ‘n’ Tees is an online based business simulation where teams of students/entrepreneurs practice the skills necessary in running a business.

Live Spider – Main Interface

Jeans ‘n Tees business simulation was developed by Live Spider in conjunction with Tasmanstudios and accounting teacher Mark Wilson.

I assisted with the created interface designs for a variety of game features while employed at Tasmanstudios.

The game contains a wide range of business decision making and planning scenarios and challenges students to develop ethical business practices and build their virtual business in socially responsible aims.

Each school receives a teacher’s guide packed full of classroom activities and information to get students ready. Once students set up their business they have to make tough decisions to keep their business alive. Students buy stock, set prices, explore advertising avenues, borrow money, hire staff, check market news, decide on fixtures and keep their bank account balanced.

Each task is designed to generate discussion in the class and all of the activities have learning outcomes that students can be awarded NCEA credits for. Currently there are five schools using the simulation.
